在这个热烈、奔放的夏日来临之际，“SEA-Hi！论坛”——这个面向公众的城市论坛即将于上海设计中心金色大厅隆重开启。‘SEA’是空间（Space）、娱乐（Entertainment）、艺术（Art）的英文缩写，‘Hi’中的‘H’代表上海、‘i’是创新（innovate）的英文缩写，‘ SEA-Hi！’代表论坛主要聚焦于城市空间、城市发展创新空间，体现浓浓的海派特色，它又与‘say Hi’ 谐音，意喻向社会公众发出邀请、致意，体现出亲和力和开放性。论坛译名“思海”，蕴含海纳百川之意，彰显海派学问特征，将给大众带来能碰撞出思想火花的头脑风暴。

SEA-Hi! The 1st Forum is to open,
Creating a Platform for Crowd-Creation & Crowd-Funding in Planning & Architecture
This summer kicks off with the “SEA-Hi! Forum”, an urban platform opening to the public officially at Shanghai International Design Center. “SEA” stands for Space, Entertainment and Art, and “Hi” Shanghai and Innovate. “SEA-Hi!” primarily focuses on urban space and innovation space of urban development, representing a typical Shanghai style. Meanwhile, it sounds similar to “say Hi”, indicative of an invitation to the public and signaling affinity and openness. The name is literally rendered “思海” (sihai, pondering over the sea), conveying the message of inclusiveness and bearing the hallmark of the Shanghai-style culture. It will brainstorm the public for sparks of innovative ideas.
This is not an ordinary lecture-based forum, but an open platform to promote industrial innovation, a place where creativity and wisdom of the planning and architecture field meet and a platform for crowd-creation & crowd-funding, designed for those who love Shanghai and willingly contribute their wisdom to improve the quality of urban space. The forum is characterized by innovative viewpoints, new ideas, entertainment and public involvement. Each keynote speech is problem-based, describing the problems facing urban space quality during the urban development and construction and providing solutions. Anyone in any field can be the keynote speaker at the forum to share unique creative ideas.
SEA-Hi！will offer a platform and channel of effective communication for both the decision-makers of urban development and ordinary citizens. The platform will not only engage ordinary people in public policies on urban planning, but also initiate ideas about new public policies.
SEA-Hi！ Forum will be held on a trimonthly basis by
involving people both on-site/off-site and online/offline. There will be
on-site discussions and internet participation to produce new ideas for urban
development and spread new concepts of urban planning and construction.

The 1st SEA-Hi！ Forum is to initiate at No.433, Baotun Road. On this occasion, seven keynote speakers will share their ideas on livability and urban space quality from different perspectives, namely, the famous writer Chen Danyan, Liu Hongzhi, Senior Vice President of AECOM in Asia-Pacific, Pan Xushan, Director of Caoyang New Village Subdistrict, Sha Yongjie, associate professor of College of Architecture and Urban Planning, Tongji University, freelance photographer Xi Wenlei, independent architect Yu Ting and Zhao Baojing, vice president of Shanghai Urban Planning and Design Research Institute.
Zhao Baojing: female, ViceDirector of Shanghai Urban Planning and Design Research Institute and Director of Shanghai Public Space Design and Promotion Center. Over the years, she has been committed to planning and administration. As the vice director of Shanghai Urban Planning and Design Research Institute, she has taken charge of the business management of the urban design center and the historical culture protection and public space art design center. She is committed to the design and research of urban renewal, public space, public art and urban design. In recent years, she has successfully completed Shanghai urban renewal strategic planning and Shanghai special urban renewal planning. At the Asian International Forum in 2014, she delivered a speech named “Shanghai 2040 - Urban Renewal”, and creatively introduced the Shanghai urban renewal plan.
Chen Danyan: female, a famous writer. Her works began to be published when she was a teenager. The early works were about the collision of youth and social rules, and later she wrote non-finctions about Shanghai history and present. In her six works about non-fiction Shanghai stories, she explored the history and spirit of Shanghai as an old trading port and recorded local looks and connotation disappearing with its rapid development and changes. Against the background of rapid globalization and urbanization of China, some of her books have become best-sellers and won many awards.
Pan Xushan: male, PHD, Secretary of Party Work of Caoyangxin Village anddirector of Caoyangxin Village Sub-district Office of Putuo District, Shanghai. Over the years he works in Caoyangxin Village，he has been focused on the connection between the expanded use of community space and the service for people’s livelihood.Pan Xushan has been engaged in the research project about ”Planning, revitalization, conservation and management of Caoyangxin Village” with Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Planning and Land Resources in 2014 and has reflected on the reformation and regeneration of Caoyanghuan River.
Xi Zi (Xi Wenlei): male, free-lancer photographer. He graduated from EastChinaUniversityofScienceandTechnology, majoring in industrial design. He once worked in such advertisement companies as McCann Erickson. His works mainly record urban changes, historical architectures and folk buildings of Shanghai as well as humanity-related subject. His works have been published in newspapers and magazines. Two works were selected in Shanghai: A History in Photographs, 1842-2010 compiled by Liu Xiangcheng, and he also published Cultural Map of Shanghai Lanes: Stone Houses. He has held many photo exhibitions and attended photo exhibitions at home and abroad.
Yu Ting: male, PHD. He is a professor-level senior engineer, Level 1 Registered Architect of China, expert in Shanghai Construction Project Tender Evaluation and senior member of the Architectural Society of China. He is also a gourmet, writer, painter, amateurhistorian, numerology lover, layman in Buddhism, believer in complexity science and the second law of thermodynamics, researcher in emerging industries and science & technology maniac. He has won many national and international awards, including the Supreme Architecture Creation Award for the 60thAnniversary of thePeople’s Republic of China. For him, they are nothing and life is good enough as long as he works and lives in Shanghai.
Sha Yongjie: male, PHD, professor of College of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University. He serves as the deputy director of Architecture and Urban Space Research Institute,Tongji University, an invited professor of School of Design and Environment of National University of Singapore. Besides, he is a member of Urban Space and Appearance Protection Sub-Committee of Shanghai Planning Committee. Over the many years of research, practice and teaching in urban renewal design, he has been committed to the plan, design and implementation of government-guided pilot urban renewal projects. His outstanding works include Shanghai Wukang Road: A Historical Approach to Urban Regeneration (2009), Toward a New Chinese Urbanity: Urban Design Concept of Shui On Land Developments (2010) and Shanghai Urbanism at the Medium Scale (Springer, 2014).
Liu Hongzhi: male, Senior Vice President, Asia-Pacific,AECOM，graduated from Harvard University, have more than 26 years extensive work experience in architecture, urban design and planning projects.His professional experience includes providing physical planning, urban design strategies，landscape design，as well as urban revitalization.Liu Hongzhihas won many prizes and his global practice experience and multi-disciplinary approach has positioned him a thought leader who is able to create the greatest value for the clients and communities though planning and design.
